The flowers are in colours ranging from yellow to a rich bronze.
The French marigold, like its cousin tne African marigold, is prized by farmers because it is a pest repellant. Planting a row of it near your vegetable patch will deter the white flies.
A tea is made from its leaves , which is thought to be refreshing.
Oh wow so pretty! Love this bed of marigolds in your pic very much. The flowers look really attractive.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I learnt that tea can be made from its leaves. Thanks for the info.
Must plant some more seeds soon. Thanks for the reminder. I love Marigolds
ReplyDeleteFollowed you from gardentropics. Both sides are beautiful. Would you help me identify some flowers and trees too?
ReplyDeleteHow lovely. I am just starting to enjoy marigolds, having found some newer varieties last summer. They were never my favorites, but now I know why they are usually planted by veggies! I'll keep that in mind this summer;-) I actually put a couple in some tomato pots last summer, but didn't realize they had the effect on insects that they do!
ReplyDeleteFollowed you from gardentropics. I would like to add that planting marigold discourages growth of parthenium- the weed we have in abundance around these parts
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your comments, friends. Rao, it is good to know about some plant that can discourag parthenium!
